Omar Everleny Pérez Villanueva (Ph.D., University of Havana) is affiliated with the Center on Christian Reflection and Dialogue in Cuba. Previously, he was a full professor of economics and the Director for the Center for the Study of the Cuban Economy (CEEC) at the University of Havana. His recent publications and contributions to edited volumes include The Cuban Economy in a New Era: An Agenda for Change toward Durable Development, with Jorge I. Domínguez and Lorena Barberia (Harvard University Press, 2017); “La economía cubana: evolución y perspectivas” (University of Pittsburgh Press, 2016); “Foreign Direct Investment in Cuba: A Necessity and a Challenge,” (in A New Chapter in US-Cuba Relations, eds., E. Hershberg & W. Leogrande, Palgrave Macmillan, 2016); “Miradas a la economía cubana: un análisis desde el sector no estatal” (Editorial Caminos, 2015); and “Ventana al universo de Cuba” (Comercio Exterior de México). Pérez Villanueva’s visiting professorships and academic residencies include Harvard and Columbia universities in the U.S., the Institute of Developing Economies (IDE-JETRO) in Japan, Carleton University in Canada, the Sorbonne and Paris 3 in France, as well as a visiting scholar residency at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta in the U.S.
