Oportunidades de Negocios en Cuba ¿Qué puede esperar el Caribe?
In this talk, Professor González Núñez will evaluate the situation of the Cuban economy and analyze perspectives of Cuba as a business market. Citing extensive and updated statistical and analytical information, he offers key factors that will help to identify business opportunities on the island. In addition, González Núñez indicates the challenges that could face Puerto Rico and the rest of the Caribbean in the eventuality of a normalization of Cuba – United States economic relations.
About the Speaker
Gerardo González Núñez was born in Cuba and graduated from the University of Havana. He is an economist and specialist in Cuban and Caribbean economic and international relations and affairs, and has previously worked as an analyst and researcher for the Centro de Estudios sobre América (CEA). He is currently studying the probable impact of Cuban tourism in the region in future scenarios. His articles have been published in specialized journals in Latin America, United States and Europe. He is the author of the book El Caribe en la política exterior de Cuba(Dominican Republic, 1991) and co-author of Participación Popular y Desarrollo en los Municipios Cubanos (Venezuela, 1994), ¿Intelectuales vs Revolución? (Canada, 2001) and Oportunidades de Negocios en Cuba. ¿Qué puede esperar Puerto Rico? (Puerto Rico, 2009). He has lectured in several universities in the United States, Latin America and Europe. He is currently a Professor of Economics in Interamerican University, Puerto Rico and an Economic Consultant.
